Inspired by the Biblical message that “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9), a Christian group named the Peace and Positive Living Awareness Organization has committed to realizing its vision by establishing a college dedicated to teaching peace-promoting practices in society.
The ceremony to lay the foundation for the college took place in Awka, Anambra State, on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
In his opening remarks, His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Bishop Festus Ozioma Ozoemena, International President of the Peace and Positive Living Awareness Organization, noted that this event symbolized not just the physical construction of a building but also the establishment of a lasting legacy of Peace, Visionary Leadership, and Sustainable Development for future generations.
Bishop Ozoemena further clarified that the Peace and Leadership Centre was created to institutionalize peacebuilding, leadership development, and social change in an ever-changing world. In an environment marked by conflict, social division, and leadership issues, this Centre aims to be a source of hope and a center for solutions.
He described the College’s goal as being a training ground for transformative leaders and a hub for research and policy related to peace and development. Additionally, it will focus on community empowerment and social cohesion, among other essential functions.
The college, named the “Peace and Leadership Center Multipurpose Building,” is designed to serve various public interests, including educating individuals in Peace and Leadership, facilitating economic empowerment for youth, women, and vulnerable groups, while promoting positive living and nation-building. Its multifunctional halls will accommodate conferences and efforts to support the needy, aligning with international organizations like the United Nations and other charitable entities.
Bishop Ozoemena stated that once operational, the college would create job opportunities and generate revenue through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), making it a valuable asset for society. “It will also offer skill acquisition programs for youth and women, transforming them into community assets,” he assured.
He mentioned that the construction of the building is projected to cost N1.2 Billion, with completion expected in two years. He called on the government, philanthropists, and benevolent organizations and individuals to contribute to this meaningful initiative.
The foundation was laid by Sir Mike Mbama Okiro, a respected philanthropist and retired Inspector General of Police (IGP). He praised the project’s organizers and urged the public to support it, emphasizing that there will be a system in place to honor generous donors.
