Comrade Tony Usulor, who was the National Rescue Movement (NRM) gubernatorial candidate in 2023 and serves as the National President of the Youth O’clock Movement, has switched his political allegiance to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This move is gaining significant attention throughout Ebonyi State.
Usulor, along with thousands of his supporters, including members of the Youth O’clock Movement, Ebonyi State chapter, made a noteworthy transition to the APC, given his previous candidacy and influence in engaging youth in politics, this change not only signifies a party switch but also brings essential political experience, community connections, and youthful vigor to the ruling party.
This transition comes as the APC continues to draw members from rival parties in Ebonyi, thereby enhancing its grassroots mobilization efforts. Recent departures from opposing factions have further strengthened the APC’s position in the state.

For the APC, integrating a former gubernatorial candidate and a prominent youth leader could significantly energize its political strategy in anticipation of future elections. For Usulor, this move marks a crucial new phase in his political career, aligning his background with the ruling party’s objectives.
In Ebonyi’s dynamic political environment, this decision is viewed as a strategic step that could enhance the APC’s influence and broaden its appeal among active youth and grassroots leaders.
Welcoming Usulor and his political entourage to the APC, Comrade Emeka Michael Ufoo, the APC Chairman of Wigbeke Ward 2 in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, described Usulor as a vital asset. Ufoo highlighted that this event is more than just a defection; it symbolizes political realignment, unity, and a renewed commitment to the progressive development of Ebonyi State.
The occasion, which took place at Fatilami Abubakar Park in Abakaliki, the state capital, featured musical acts, exchange of pleasentries as well as issuing APC identity cards at the ward level to new defectors in the Wigbeke Ward 2.
