The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) branch in Anambra State has expressed appreciation to the national police authorities for promoting the former Onitsha Police Area Commander, ACP Chidi Nzota, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police by the Inspector General of Police. They describe this advancement as not only well-deserved but also a significant acknowledgement of his steadfast commitment, patriotism, passion, and pursuit of excellence.
It is important to note that prior to this promotion to DCP, the Rights Group had consistently advocated for his elevation due to his professionalism, dedication, and proactive approach, which have notably decreased crime rates and restored public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
This information was shared in a press release distributed to journalists in Awka, Anambra State, and signed by Evangelist Comrades Vincent Ezekwueme and Chidi Mbah, Chairman and Secretary, respectively, under the theme: “When a leader is right, support him; if he remains right, stay with him; when he is wrong, advise him constructively.”
“The exemplary management of protests by DCP Nzota during the State government’s closure of Onitsha Main Market, which occurred without any casualties, remains a memorable event for both Anambra residents and all Nigerians,” they noted.
The CLO is confident in DCP Nzota’s ability to exceed expectations in his new role. They also extend their gratitude to Inspector General of Police, IGP Disu, and the Police Service Commission for recognizing DCP Nzota’s qualifications for this promotion. The group prays for God to grant IGP Disu and DCP Nzota wisdom, good health, and courage as they work to secure and protect the lives and livelihoods of citizens.
CLO encourages police officers and public servants to follow DCP Nzota’s example in order to help achieve a better Nigeria, reminding everyone that dedication, hard work, and a commitment to making a difference are often recognized and rewarded, as highlighted by the CLO.
