HRM OBA SURAKAT NOAH OLAYIWOLA AKANNI ADEFIMIHAN,ABINUPAGUN MADARIKAN II  (ONIDIMU OF IDIMU LAND)

The recently crowned paramount ruler of Idimu Land, HRM Oba Surakat Noah Olayiwola Akanni, Onidimu of Idimu Land, ascended the throne of his forefathers on the 14th of August, 2025. The King wasted no time in demonstrating his commitment to his people, as his commendable deeds and his capacity to unite various kingdoms and tribes residing within Idimu Land resonated with us, prompting us to seek an audience with a monarch endowed with profound wisdom.

The Kabiyesi completed his primary education at the Local Government Primary School, Idimu Alimosho, Lagos, where he earned his First School Leaving Certificate (F.S.L.C) in 1984. He then advanced to Muslim College Egbe for his secondary education. His tertiary studies were undertaken at the esteemed Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH), where he studied Business Administration.

He is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Almaneef Construction Company Limited RC.

CREEKVIBES DANIELS EKIYE had some facts during a courtesy visit to the palace in Idimu. Excerpts;

How does the Oba Onidimu of Idimu Land relate to the different tribes living within the Idimu Land?

His Royal Majesty, OBA SURAKAT NOAH OLAYIWOLA AKANNI maintains an excellent rapport with all tribes within the Idimu community. He practices non-discrimination among all individuals. His approach involves diplomacy, fostering robust alliances among various tribes, including Hausa, Igbo, and other Yoruba speakers who do not communicate in our Awori dialect. He is attentive to the needs of his subjects and responds to their calls with the necessary consideration.

I would like to share details regarding a long standing internal conflicts within the AREWA COMMUNITY on Idimu land. This feud was resolved amicably, resulting in great satisfaction for both parties involved. In fact, they embraced one another following the peaceful resolution facilitated by His Royal Majesty.

It is important to note that he listens to all subjects without bias, as he is inherently a peace-making individual, prior to his ascension to the throne. He respects and honors all traditions.

What challenges does Idimu Land face, and what are the recommended solutions to alleviate these issues?

Challenges in the Idimu Community, I will address five specific areas. The term ‘challenge’ refers to obstacles or difficulties present within the community that exceed its capacity, necessitating the attention of the Government at the Federal, State, and Local levels, as well as Private sectors or Non-governmental organisations.

Road Network: To begin with road construction, I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to both the State and Local Government for the road network established within the Idimu Community. I would like to highlight some contributions made by both tiers of Government.

1: OGUNRONBI ROAD to ORISUMBARE community: This road will connect Osodi Expressway to Muritala Mohammed International Airport. [By LAGOS State Government] however, we require additional roads and streets to be repaired.  PRINCE AINA BABATUNDE BALOGUN STREET: This street serves as an access route that motorists can use to travel from either Ikotun or Egbe to Isolo via 7 and 8, and it was constructed by the Local Government [Egbe-Idimu LCDA].

2: Education: Given the continuous influx of individuals into Idimu land, along with their school-aged children, there is a pressing need for more primary and secondary schools.

3: Health: It is widely acknowledged that health is wealth. We require additional primary health centers or mini general hospital.

4: Security: We commend our security personnel in the area, specifically the IDIMU AREA ‘M’ COMMAND and the IDIMU DIVISIONAL POLICE STATION. Kudos to the the COMMANDER and the DPO who are working tirelessly to prevent crime within the community, responding promptly to calls for assistance whenever necessary.

5: JOB: I would like to take this opportunity to urge all levels of government to create more job opportunities for our youth. Private organisations should also play their part in this effort. I have received numerous CVs from graduates submitted to the palace by both the sons and daughters of the land, as well as non-indigenes, seeking employment.

Can you give us insight into life prior to your ascension to the throne of your forefathers?

Hmm!, Indeed, in response to that question, my brother, it is a matter of fate, as I did not foresee this outcome. As a politician, you and I are aware that I will be contemplating to compete for a higher political position, having served two terms as the Supervisory Councillor for Works, Housing, and Infrastructure, as well as two terms as the Secretary to the Local Government of my LCDA, which is Egbe-Idimu in Alimosho.

I concluded my tenure in July 2025, to heed the Clarion call of our land, my community, and our ancestors, as I was chosen through the IFA, which is a tradition and custom of our people.

I was formally installed as the ONIDIMU OF IDIMU LAND on August 14, 2025.

What strategies do you have in mind for fostering positive relationships with the various Kingdoms/communities residing in Idimu Land?

In Idimu, we hold love and peace as our core beliefs, which have become our slogan and motto to all neighboring communities.

We participate in each other’s cultural events.

As a community focused on peace-building, our members have been able to engage with other communities for their business dealings.

Plans: We will persist in strengthening our friendships with all communities surrounding our area.
