One day after taking office to serve the people of Ndi-Anambra for the next four years, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo hosted Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu on March 18, 2026. The IGP was represented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the South East Zone, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc, during a courtesy visit that coincided with the inauguration of the State Government’s second term.
At the Government House in Awka, Governor Soludo congratulated both the IGP and DIG on their recent appointments, noting that their leadership arrives at a vital moment when strengthened security collaboration is crucial for maintaining peace and fostering economic growth in the state.
The Governor also highlighted the need for ongoing cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the State Government, pledging his administration’s support to enhance security measures and improve public safety throughout Anambra State.
Additionally, the State Government sought police assistance in resolving ongoing traditional leadership disputes, particularly in Awka, as a panel of inquiry wraps up its investigation.
In response, the Deputy Inspector-General expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to fostering strong partnerships with the State Government and other security entities to safeguard lives and property.
The DIG was accompanied by Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, on this visit.
The visit highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with the State Government to ensure lasting peace, security, and public safety across Anambra State and the wider South East region.
