Hon. Afam Uzoegwu, a leading aspirant in the upcoming All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primaries for the Idemili North State Constituency, has emphasized the critical role of women in Nigerian politics. He urged them to stay dedicated to nation-building, community service, and raising the next generation.
Uzoegwu shared these sentiments during his visit to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Nkpor Uno, Idemili North local government area, last Sunday, as the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) celebrated this year’s Mothering Sunday alongside their global counterparts.
At the gathering, the aspiring lawmaker highlighted that mothers occupy a significant role in human existence and are vital for human development. He expressed that women are uniquely created to nurture, care for, and show compassion, and should thus be honoured in both the Church and society.
He stated that women embody the heart of Christ’s mission through their efforts in raising children within the faith and their contributions to social and community progress.
“Today, we celebrate women for their unique significance. They deserve recognition and respect,” he affirmed.
Encouraging the mothers of Idemili North to view APGA as the party that champions genuine democracy in Nigerian politics, Uzoegwu asserted that his aspiration is focused on amplifying the voices of women, especially concerning issues like domestic violence.
In response, the women expressed their strong support for Uzoegwu, commending his approachable nature and commitment to the community. They urged the electorate to back Hon. Afam Uzoegwu in the upcoming APGA primary elections.
