Chief B.S.U. Muofunanya, the Traditional Ruler-elect of Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Anambra State, has praised the infrastructure initiatives of Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, while seeking formal recognition as the community’s traditional leader.

During a press conference, Chief Muofunanya expressed his approval of the rehabilitation of 13 major roads in Okpoko, labeling the efforts as beneficial.

He however lamented the poor state of ‘D’ Line and Okafor Street, both essential roads in the area, and called for their immediate repair.

As the first President-General of the Okpoko Community Development Union, he voiced frustration over the delay from past Anambra State governments in granting him a certificate of recognition and staff of office.

Nevertheless, he said he had remained  hopeful that the current administration will resolve the issue before its term elapsed.

Known as “Akaeze Nteje,” the Monarch-elect urged local political leaders and stakeholders to collaborate with him to foster community growth.

He acknowledged the progress made by the state government in enhancing Okpoko’s infrastructure, but stressed that more work is necessary. He also recalled his contributions to Okpoko achieving constituency status and underscored the reasons for its urban recognition.

Muofunanya pointed out that cooperation among leaders and stakeholders is crucial for attracting governmental support, particularly concerning infrastructure projects before the current administration took office.

Additionally, he called for increased political representation, asking the state government to appoint qualified individuals from Okpoko to important positions, emphasizing the community’s significant influence in the current government’s establishment as one of the largest constituencies in the state.
