Ebonyi APGA Primary Elections; Fear Grips Other Political Party over Crowd Turnout

{FROM OUR POLITICAL DESK, Abakaliki}

Various political parties in Ebonyi State, have expressed concerns and unease over the significant turnout of party members, supporters, and political stakeholders from across the state during the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA Primary Election held in 171 electoral wards in the State yesterday.

This turnout highlights the increase in political activities ahead of the 2027 elections as the rising popularity of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) among citizens in Ebonyi State may stem from the challenges Nigeria has faced since the current administration began. This acceptance is further fueled by the candidates who have been elected, as they pledge to displace the current office-holders in the positions they seek.

Several ambitious candidates are competing for APGA representation in the forthcoming general elections, including Chief Mrs. Lucy Chinwe Agunwodom, who has been notably announced as the party’s gubernatorial candidate. High Chief Onyeoma Kelechi Agbo (Ikemba) is the only candidate for the Ohaukwu South State Constituency seat. Chief Barrister Tochukwu Ogalagu, also known as “T-Man,” has been nominated as the candidate for the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency. Furthermore, Hon. Chidiebere Emmanuel Ofoke is in the race for the Abakaliki South State Constituency, alongside other prominent politicians representing APGA in the elections.

During a gathering at the Salt Lake Hotel in Abakaliki, which functioned as the collation center for the party’s primaries, Hon. Chukwudi Nwankwo, the State Chairman of APGA, extended his congratulations to party members, supporters, political stakeholders, and candidates for their successful primaries. He emphasized that the journey towards the party’s goal of taking over Ebonyi State in 2027 has officially commenced.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to our party members, supporters, political stakeholders, and candidates for their successful primaries. I want to stress that the journey toward APGA’s objective of taking control of Ebonyi State in 2027 has officially begun, and as all of you can confirm, there is unity within our great party—no factions or divisions exist. I urge everyone to deepen their commitment, as our effort to create a meaningful change in Ebonyi State politics is unyielding.

“I want to assure you that both old and new members of APGA have equal rights, as our constitution ensures no one holds more power than others. We are all united as brothers and sisters in the party. It will take the collective effort of all Ndi-Ebonyi, with our candidates leading and us supporting them, to win elections”. Hon. Nwankwo hinted.

“As you can observe, there was no violence or chaos; instead, the election was conducted in a peaceful, credible, and transparent manner. I urge those inclined to incite conflict as the political campaigning begins to head to Sambias forest, for in Ebonyi State, the upcoming elections must remain peaceful, and every voter’s vote should be counted.

The highlights of the event, includes entertainment from live band, exchange of pleasantries from far and near friends and relations of the party primaries attendees and speeches of encouragements by the party faithfuls.
