On May 13, 2026, the Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu revealed the arrest of a domestic staff member believed to be involved in the brutal murder of a Pentecostal Bishop from End-Reconciliation Ministry in Asaba, Delta State, along with an attempt to dispose of the victim’s Toyota Prado Jeep in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area.
This significant development resulted from a swift, intelligence-driven operation by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) based in Awkuzu, which led to the capture of the suspect and another individual accused of attempting to purchase the stolen vehicle.
Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Ikenga Tochi, issued a statement earlier today, noting that initial investigations indicate the suspect, who served as the Bishop’s driver and domestic aide, colluded with unidentified accomplices to kill the cleric and escape with the Jeep to Anambra State for sale.
Police operatives, following reliable information, located and apprehended the suspects in Nkpor, successfully recovering the stolen vehicle and taking them into custody for further questioning.
The Command has indicated that investigations are ongoing to locate other members of the criminal group involved in this case and to fully understand the details of the tragic murder.
In the meantime, CP Orutugu has urged residents to be vigilant when hiring domestic workers and drivers. He emphasized the importance of thoroughly vetting the identities of individuals employed in homes and staying alert to any suspicious behavior.
The Commissioner assured the public that the Command is dedicated to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and cooperation with other security agencies to ensure the safety of residents and property throughout the State.
