The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Anambra State has officially launched its Peter Obi/Kwankwaso Presidential Campaign Council in preparation for the 2027 elections.

Party officials from various levels, including state and ward leaders, attended the inauguration event at King David Hotel in Awka on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

After the inauguration, Anambra State NDC Chairman, Rt Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, said the council will oversee and manage the party’s daily campaign activities leading up to the 2027 general election in the state. He emphasized that this inauguration is a crucial step in the party’s preparations for the elections.

Uzoezie described the event as the beginning of an intensive grassroots mobilization effort aimed at securing a decisive victory for their presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as well as other candidates running in Anambra State and beyond.

He remarked, “This marks the dawn of the new Nigeria we aspire to achieve. For all council members, remember that the potential for a new Nigeria starts with us; let’s work diligently and truthfully to realize this vision. We should take pride in our party. Our leader, Mr. Peter Obi, has promised us a better Nigeria. This inauguration is to equip you for the challenges ahead.”

Uzoezie expressed confidence that the NDC would secure 98 percent of the votes in Anambra State and urged everyone to ensure victory for all candidates in the 2027 elections. “Your mission is to deliver 100 percent support in your polling units. Campaign with an open mind and civility, avoiding sentiment. Remember, other political parties are not idle; we must work hard to guarantee our success on January 16, 2027.”

He also praised the media for their ongoing support in strengthening the party in the state and mentioned plans for a significant homecoming/mega rally for Mr. Peter Obi on November 25, 2026.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the council members, Dr. Ifeamyi Ibezim, the State Coordinator of the Campaign Council, expressed his enthusiasm for joining and collaborating with the NDC, stating that he has found peace since becoming a member.

Ibezim pledged that under his leadership, the council would aim to secure 1.5 to 2 million votes for Mr. Peter Obi in Anambra State and noted that Kano State has committed to delivering 1.5 million votes for him as well.

“We need to ensure that the message of Peter Obi and other NDC candidates reaches all 5,526 polling units in the state,” he urged, describing Obi as a destined leader sent by God to uplift Nigeria. He encouraged his fellow council members to swiftly spread the campaign message throughout their respective wards and polling units.
