Chief (Dr.) Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Ebonyi State, has called on residents\u2014both locals and non-locals\u2014to brace themselves for a challenging yet critical political battle as the 2027 governorship election approaches. He expressed optimism that, through the united effort of the people, victory will be achieved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a gathering with enthusiastic locals at a fuel station in Abakaliki, Odii emphasized that the upcoming election marks a pivotal moment in Ebonyi’s political landscape. He underlined that the fight is not about personal ambitions but rather about liberating the state from years of squandered opportunities and poor resource management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odii asserted that the Anyi G’ Emeya movement is community-driven, focused on restoring accountable leadership and promoting economic and inclusive governance in Ebonyi State. He indicated that leveraging technology and the expertise of skilled professionals to oversee the electoral processes would minimize the chances of electoral fraud, urging citizens to acquire their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and stay vigilant during the election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Odii shared that his successful business ventures could afford him a luxurious lifestyle anywhere in the world, but his motivation to run for office stems from a desire to foster a society where children from underprivileged backgrounds can aspire to high positions based on merit rather than connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He highlighted the need for Ebonyi to move past a political culture that ties access to opportunities and leadership positions to familial or political affiliations. Reflecting on his philanthropic efforts, he revealed that after witnessing families in his community living in poor conditions, he chose to invest resources in building homes for those in need, rather than following through with his plans for a luxurious personal residence<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odii mentioned that he still hasn\u2019t built the home previously intended for himself, as he finds greater fulfillment in improving the living conditions of disadvantaged families. He currently resides in a modest duplex he built for his mother after she expressed discomfort over him providing homes for others while she lived in less comfort herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gathering, which drew a large crowd after Odii recognized by motorcyclists during a stop for fuel en route to a housewarming, showcased his generosity as he covered fuel expenses for other customers, further rallying support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, he urged residents not to trade their political future for temporary financial incentives, likening such offers to mere \u201cpeanuts\u201d compared to the benefits of good governance. He inspired them to obtain their PVCs, actively engage in the election, and protect their votes. He urged support for both himself in the governorship race and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the presidential level, warning against allowing anyone to undermine the people’s democratic rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odii also committed to serving only one term if elected, drawing inspiration from Nelson Mandela, stating his goal is not personal gain but to establish a governance model that restores faith in public institutions and creates lasting opportunities for the populace. He believes a four-year term would suffice to showcase effective leadership and sound resource management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The crowd expressed their support through songs, questioning the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for prioritizing zoning discussions over a detailed account of its governance. The encounter was seen as a significant opportunity for residents to engage with a candidate perceived to offer a different leadership style rooted in private-sector success and charitable actions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Odii reminded attendees that the power ultimately lies with the voters and encouraged them to turn their enthusiasm into responsible electoral participation.
