The Anambra State Police Command has made significant progress in the case of a 33-year-old woman who went missing and was later found murdered, leading to the arrest of two male suspects in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspects are identified as Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara, aged 26, and Makuochukwu Uzoigwe, aged 20. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to a press release from Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO Ikenga Tochukwu, the case began on March 13, 2026, when the victim’s mother reported her missing at the Oraifite Divisional Police Headquarters. The next day, March 14, 2026, the body of an unidentified woman was found in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop in Oraifite, which was later identified by the victim’s father as his missing daughter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation. Utilizing intelligence and digital forensic evidence, the operatives were able to apprehend the two suspects on June 6, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During questioning, the main suspect, Thankgod Ikechukwu Ikwugwara, admitted to murdering the victim. He claimed to have been in a relationship with her for about three years and stated he was unaware that she was married. He also mentioned that after a dispute with her husband, he became ill and, driven by anger, planned the attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ikwugwara confessed that he lured the victim to his home on March 13, 2026, under the pretense of needing help due to his illness. Upon her arrival, he and the second suspect allegedly attacked her with a machete, leading to her death. They then disposed of her body in a culvert near Jesus Bus Stop early the next morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both suspects have admitted their roles in the crime and will face charges in court once investigations are finalized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
