The IGP was represented by Deputy Inspector-General of Police for the South East Zone, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc, during a courtesy visit that coincided with the inauguration of the State Government&#8217;s second term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the Government House in Awka, Governor Soludo congratulated both the IGP and DIG on their recent appointments, noting that their leadership arrives at a vital moment when strengthened security collaboration is crucial for maintaining peace and fostering economic growth in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Governor also highlighted the need for ongoing cooperation between the Nigeria Police Force and the State Government, pledging his administration&#8217;s support to enhance security measures and improve public safety throughout Anambra State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, the State Government sought police assistance in resolving ongoing traditional leadership disputes, particularly in Awka, as a panel of inquiry wraps up its investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, the Deputy Inspector-General expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and reiterated the Nigeria Police Force&#8217;s dedication to fostering strong partnerships with the State Government and other security entities to safeguard lives and property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DIG was accompanied by Commissioner of Police for Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, on this visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The visit highlighted the Nigeria Police Force&#8217;s commitment to enhancing collaboration with the State Government to ensure lasting peace, security, and public safety across Anambra State and the wider South East region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By WISEMAN (Awka) One day after taking office to serve the people of Ndi-Anambra for the next four years, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo hosted Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu on March 18, 2026.
